Prescription drug and opioid addiction has led to a five fold increase in drug deaths in Michigan since 1999. Governor Rick Snyder has put together a task force to investigate the increase in these deaths. The link below provides some findings based upon the investigation of the team. The Hastings Police Department along with Barry Central 911 is updating their emergency business contact forms for 2015. The forms are vital in the event of an emergency occurring after business hours in cases of break in or a fire. Please contact the Hastings Police with any names and phone numbers you wish to be contacted at in the event of an emergency. The City of Hastings is making a change in parking lot number 8 which is located behind the Waldorf Brew Pub. Lot number 8 was previously a 3 hour only parking and now has been changed to all day free parking. There are several free all day parking lots in the city, those lots include; lots 3, 4, 5, 6, and now number 8. If you have any concerns about where the lots are located you may pick up a parking map at the Hastings City Police or the City Hall Building located at 201 E. State St.
The Hastings Police Department has a medicine drop off box located on the second floor of the City Hall building. Never flush old or unwanted medications down the drain/toilet, you may bring in your unwanted or expired medications and they will be properly disposed of. Just leave the medications in the bottle, black out your name if you wish and drop them in the secured box. The box is available for drop offs Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm. 201 E.
