The City of Hastings will begin picking up leaves and yard debris the week of October 29th. Please place leaves or other compostable yard debris immediately behind the curb (on the curb lawn), but should not place materials on the street or adjacent to intersections where they might present a vision obstruction. There will be an announcement on WBCH radio each weekday morning informing citizens where the City work crews are located and which area will be covered that day, as well as the tentative area crews will cover the next day.
After the City-wide collection is completed, residents should dispose of their compostable materials at the City’s Compostable Materials Site, as the placing of compostable yard debris on city streets, on the curb, or other area in the public right-of-way is prohibited except during scheduled collection periods.
